Three hours a day every weekday is sometimes not enough for every American who listens to what Rush Limbaugh has to say in The Rush Limbaugh Show. The radio show which begins at noon EST and which is known as the highest rated radio show in the whole country deals with almost every aspect of American politics and economy.
Who is Rush Limbaugh?
Rush Limbaugh is a political commentator by profession and is known as a conservative when it comes to his political and economic views. Speaking to an audience of around 15 million everyday, Rush is a staunch critic of almost all liberal views. There is nothing wrong with that in a free country.
However, not only does he have a rather shaky background, Rush and his show are also among America’s most unreliable sources of information when it comes to gold and the future economy and politics.
In fact, this 63-year-old famous media figure talks about almost anything that concerns America, from Obamacare to Pope Francis’ First Amendment Rights, from climate to racism, from the mistakes of Verizon to the criticisms against fellow radio commentator Mark Levin.
Rush was a college dropout who flunked almost everything and had no other interest except the radio. He was a music disc jockey, a radio talk show host since the early 1970s until now, for a total of almost 40 years.
In fact, although his ear was affected by his work and although he had to use cochlear implants all the time, Rush “rushed” to his success, which peaked in the 1990’s during the Persian Gulf War.
His support for the war effort and his sharp criticism of the peace activists somehow earned him the reputation of being on the side of the Republican Party. After satirizing Clinton’s policies, Limbaugh received an honorary membership from the Republicans, thus establishing his significance as an influential figure in American society.
In 2003, however, Rush experienced some downtime when, as a pro football commentator for ESPN, his somewhat negative comments on a black quarterback somehow earned him a racist image.
It was also this time that he was arrested for prescription fraud that involved his addiction to OxyContin, a painkiller. He redeems himself though as one of America’s celebrated commentators and he has authored the national bestseller Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims.
Topics of the Rush Limbaugh Radio Show
Fast forward to 2013, Rush Limbaugh blabbers about the economy collapsing if Obama has to be re-elected, thus encouraging fellow conservatives to stock up on gold and secure themselves. Rush’s prediction of the eventual economic collapse of America is an exaggeration that scares off conservatives and even non-conservatives with “raving mad cannibalistic crowds.”
Finally, Rush gives them one piece of advice to at least give themselves some degree of protection: “Get gold.” Nevertheless, the world market shows gold with a rather fluctuating status and the fluctuations are even more on the downside. True, the economic problems with the Obama administration are real, but the Gold solution isn’t.
Rush takes credit for saying that Washington produces nothing but crap and that nothing is happening to the economy except a government that is getting bigger and bigger. However, investments in gold coins that are typically the content of many advertisements in The Rush Limbaugh Show may actually be the next worst thing as economic experts contend.
