If you’ve been answering surveys online for any amount of time, you might have heard of Mintvine.
They are a popular and well-known paid survey site, on par with similar great sites like Swagbucks or Survey Junkie. Indeed, they have amassed a lot of positive feedback and reviews that have left them with a ton of loyal users.
And then, they switched to the name Branded Surveys. That’s the point some claim things started to change.
The question then becomes, is Branded Surveys still a relevant paid survey site in 2019?
Sit back, as we explore this online income opportunity in our Branded Surveys review.
About Branded Surveys
Branded Surveys is one of the leading paid survey sites on the web today. Since 2012, users have been answering surveys on the site to earn points. These can be exchanged for cash or gift cards.
This survey site was founded by Branded Research, a market research company. It started life as Mintvine and quickly became one of the more popular options among the survey-side-gig crowd. The rebranding occurred in 2017.
The way Branded Survey works is similar to what other paid survey sites are doing. Users get to answer survey questions based on their product usage and consumer behavior. These are sponsored by third-party companies, who pay Branded Research for your opinions. Such opinions help businesses and organizations make better market and product decisions.
Branded Surveys works with some of the most respected names in research. These include Forrester, Hall and Partners, and Nielsen Research. They, in turn, represent several Fortune 500 companies.
What sets Branded Surveys apart is the number of surveys that's available at any given time. Most users from other paid survey sites complain about not getting enough to answer, limiting their earning potential. Branded Surveys provides anywhere from 15-30 surveys per week, which is enough to keep most people busy.
The website uses a point system to keep track of your earnings. Each point is worth 1 cent, meaning 100 points is $1. Each survey you complete will earn you around 10 to 300 points on average. These usually take you 10-20 minutes to complete.
Another plus for Branded Surveys is that there more ways to earn beyond just answering surveys. One of the notable ways is through their badge system.
The Badge system allows you to get badges once you reach a certain number of points. Having higher badges will earn you even more bonus points on top of what you make from doing surveys.
You start out with the Bronze badge and will be given a chance to progress to Silver and Gold. To do so, you need to accumulate credits. Every 10 points you earn will net you one credit. Earning 60 credits will give you the Silver badge. Achieve 210 credits, and you will be rewarded the coveted Gold badge.
Badges are modifiers that affect how many points you get from specific tasks.
For example, Branded Surveys has a feature called Survey Streak. This will give you bonus points for finishing a set number of surveys within seven days. Silver badge holders can get up to 100 points for doing ten surveys and 150 points for reaching 30 surveys. Gold users, meanwhile, can expect to grab double – 200 points and 300 points, respectively.
There is also a daily poll that will get you 5 points if you're a bronze user, seven if you're silver and ten if you have the gold badge. The points are small but are offset by the fact that they are generally straightforward and fast to complete.
How Does the Site Work?
To begin using Branded Survey, you need to sign up for an account. Like the majority of paid survey sites, registration is free. Unfortunately, registration is only available to residents in the US, Canada, and the UK. You also need to be at least 13 years of age to join, with users under 18 requiring parental consent.
Once you're in, you'll be asked to complete your profile. This is in the form of a mini-survey, that will ask you questions about your personal info, work, and even household income. Doing this will give Branded Survey an idea of your demographics and interests.
This part is essential because it is used to pair you up with relevant surveys. If you give inaccurate information, you’ll be paired up with surveys you might not be qualified to complete. This will end in a lot of frustration, so best to do it right the first time.
Oh, and doing this will get you an automatic 50 points, so there’s that.
After that, you’ll then get access to a list of surveys you are pre-qualified for. This is the primary way of earning with Branded Survey. You'll see upfront how many points the survey gives, as well as the average time to complete it. This feature is nice as you’ll always know what to expect.
Take note that surveys will usually have a maximum number of participants. This is in a first-come, first-served basis, so best to join right away if you see a survey that's available to you.
Most of the time, you’ll get relevant surveys for which you’ll have no trouble qualifying for. On occasion (and this is unavoidable), however, you’ll get kicked out of a survey mid-way because it is not 100% relevant to you.
When this happens, rest assured that you’ll still be rewarded 5 points for your efforts. Also, you'll be asked some follow-up questions to fine-tune your profile. This will help minimize further disqualifications in the future.
If you’re lucky, you’ll be asked to participate in focus groups discussions or even product testing. These are more demanding of your time but will pay more on average (up to 500 points based on some reports). They’re rare, however, and slots do go fast.
You can also take advantage of deals and offers from third parties. They usually involve free product trials or discounts at local stores. These can help you earn a few bonus points, but results vary a lot.
Branded Surveys also has its own referral program called Refer-A-Friend available to Silver and Gold badge users. With it, Silver users can get 50 points for each person they successfully refer to the website. For Gold users, this ramps up to 100 points.
To cash out, you need to have a minimum of 1,000 points ($10). This isn’t terribly hard to do, given the number of earning options you have available. You can have this amount sent directly to your PayPal account, or use it to buy Amazon gift cards.
Is the Site Legit?
To verify if this paid survey site is indeed legit or not, we check with Branded Surveys reviews on the Better Business Bureau website. This is a trusted “watchdog” for companies and is a good barometer if a business is legitimate or not.
On the BBB, they are listed as Mintvine (their old name) and have a rating of B, which is above average. This is based on how transparent Branded Surveys is with their business practices, as well as any complaints lodged against them. This tells you that the website is indeed legit and not a scam.
In addition to the rating, the profile also offers Mintvine reviews from the old days. There are a variety of complaints recorded, but the majority deal with issues of not getting paid and not getting enough surveys. Some users also report not being able to access their accounts.
A lot of them also point out that their problems started when Mintvine became Branded Surveys.
In fairness to company, they answer every complaint on the BBB website. Most are resolved satisfactorily or, at the very least, get explained in detail. This is a further indication that this paid survey site is the real deal.
There are only a few positive reviews on their BBB profile, and most report a very generic experience. They praise the decent and on-time pay plus their informal and fun to answer surveys.
However, the overwhelming majority of Mintvine reviews lean more towards the negative, earning them a low 1.5-star rating. So, while the website is legit, it’s far from problem-free.
- Lots of ways to earn points: On top of surveys, you can also earn via the badge system and daily polls.
- Low minimum cash-out amount: Compared to other paid survey sites, Branded Surveys offers a low minimum threshold of 1,000 points.
- You won't run out of surveys to answer: Look at any Mintvine review, and the feature praised the most is the higher than average survey availability.
- They have a simple but good referral program: Their referral program is simple and rewarding at 50 points per user (100 if you’re a Gold user). Though, unfortunately, you do need to have a silver badge to participate.
- Horrible customer support: In many Mint Vine reviews, the lack of customer service is a common complaint. Their response times are very fast.
- Not available in the majority of countries: Unfortunately, this website is only available in North America and the UK.
- Problems with getting paid: The biggest complaint any Mintvine review brings up is the delay in payments once you cash out. Some don’t even get it at all. While your experience may differ, it’s best to be wary of this issue.
Negative Branded Surveys reviews started rolling in once the company changed names. You might see that some people have problems with payment or account suspension. None the less, based on our experience, this is the exception and not the norm.
We still recommend this paid survey site as a legitimate way to earn a quick buck or two online, but caution that you’re not going to get rich on Branded Survey—or any other paid survey site for that matter. Earnings are slow and generally meager, but you’ll likely bring in enough to cover the occasional coffee or even your Netflix subscription. It might also help to compound what you earn here with what you could get from other similar sites such as FocusGroup.
Throughout this post, we’ve seen what this paid survey site has to offer. First off, we can definitely say that this is a 100% legit site from current reviews, and has been even in the old Mintvine reviews. There are lots of people getting paid for answering surveys from actual companies. The fact that they work with prestigious research firms adds to their credentials.
